Hey Cracker, can a mother get just one rib??

Oh, God, where do I begin. This is just WAY too easy. First off the place is called "CRACKER Barrel" and it's in South Carolina. Second it's CHRIS ROCK'S mother. The CEO of that company must have his head in his hands right now crying. Not only does he have to deal with the always Pimptastic Preacher Al "where's my hairdresser" Sharpton, but also with one of the funniest comedians of all time. How are you going to dis Chris Rock's mom, and expect not to hear about it for years to come??!! At least they'll get publicity on HBO, Comedy Central, BET.... This is going to be brutally funny.

Older, dumber, nicer...

The US Army is getting OLDER, DUMBER, and NICER. Way to train men for combat Army. Nope the War on Terror hasn't degraded our military at all...everybody thank George... "THANKS GEORGE!!"

Please don't tell me if my beloved U.S. Marine Corps decides to take this approach.

Nobel Peace Prize

What a wonderful person to award this prize to. Someone who turns around and uses the winnings to continue his selfless work. Great inspiration. I wonder if he'll catch as much hell as Warren Buffet when he tried to help the poor.

Some past Nobel winners blow their winnings on drugs, and surfing. But to each his own...

What was and what is now

I was watching Egypt, Engineering an Empire tonight on the History Channel. It made me think of one of the worlds first super powers. I also thought of Timbuktu (TOMBOUCTOU) one of the intellectual centers of the world a few hundred years ago. Here in the U.S. we've forgotten that superpowers eventually fall, usually because of some strategic mistake.

Egypt, Engineering an Empire

I just wish popular culture would stop making Egyptians look more like they were born in Denmark rather than Africa.

SciFi and The Issues of the Day

The Battlestar Galactica premier had some interesting political commentary last night. The humans are the insurgents (and are polytheistic), and the Cylons are the occupation/liberation forces (and has a monotheistic almost Christian-like religion). All of the characters are painted in shades of gray on this series. Very well written.

"As for the early insurgency plot, Eick said it's an opportunity to explore the adage that "one person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist.
"It all depends on what your frame of reference is and what side of the ledger you're on," Eick said. "I think we also relate to these actions in a different way, because, ironically, that's the way this country was born, so what does it mean to be an insurgent?"
The ability to ask such questions was in the mind of "Galactica's" creators from the outset.
"All the people involved were of a mind that the world didn't need another space opera," Eick said. Instead of trying to out-do "Star Trek," producers went back to the origins of science-fiction, taking their cues from the novels of Robert A. Heinlein and Isaac Asimov. "Those were all about the allegorical and socio-political commentary, which we felt had been lost in contemporary science fiction. It wasn't so much about us coming up with a new idea as going back to an old one, using science-fiction as a smokescreen to discuss and invest in issues of the day."

This is interesting, because last season, I actually looked at issues such as abortion, and pro-war stances in a different light. Very well written series. Of course, it won't take long for right-wing nuts to latch onto this plot and start screaming something about "liberal media" blah, blah, blah.

Warning Shots by Thievery Corporation

THIEVERY CORPORATION
Warning Shots

They try their best just to mash up the resistance
Warning shots and sirens from a distance
Riot gear and barricade for an instance
And the words from mi mouth, mi nuh response
Hollywood sending signals of destruction
Stereotype the ghetto youths as the bad man
Overcome the rough times and we grow strong
Step up in a life, now them want to shake we hand
We are eternal, made of the creator
Won't fall to the soul-less devastators
Divide and conquer, and try to separate us
Up to this day, them still try fi rape us

Yeah, I like my lyrics subversive...
